            Softball Recap: Cherokee Indians vs. Covenant Christian Eagles        
        
		
        
        
            Cherokee's game  last Saturday was a  loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them  on Monday. They walked away with  a   10-5  victory over the Covenant Christian Eagles. The high-scoring effort was just what the Indians needed considering they were shut out in their previous   game.

 Libby Collum made a splash while hitting and pitching. She  tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned  (and four unearned) runs off   six  hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
 In other batting news, Cherokee let  Tatum Lockett and  Layla Gorman run wild. Lockett  went 1-for-3 with four  RBI and one  run, while  Gorman  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Cherokee's win bumped their record up to 13-17. As for Covenant Christian, they have  traveled a rocky road recently, having  lost ten of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record  this season.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cherokee will challenge Phil Campbell at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Indians' favor as the  team sits on three straight wins at home while the Bobcats have been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road. As for Covenant Christian, they will square off against Belgreen at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their  fourth straight  victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
