The Winona Tigers beat the PURE Academy Royals 14-7  on Friday. The  victory made it back-to-back  wins for the Tigers.
 Landon Crawford was  his usual excellent self, rushing for 95 yards on only 11 carries.
 They were just one part of a punishing run game: Winona was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 238  rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  rushed for at least 163  rushing yards in 14 consecutive  games  dating back to last season.
 Winona's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB  3.5 times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess:  Alejandro White,  Dejuan McChristian,  and  Quincy Burt, who each picked up 0.5  sacks apiece. Another thorn in PURE Academy's side was  White, who picked up  0.5  sacks, forced one fumble,  and made 13 total tackles (1.0 for loss).
The  victory  got Winona back to even at 4-4. As for PURE Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
 Looking ahead, Winona will be playing at home against Choctaw County  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for PURE Academy, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season  when they go up against Southwind  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. The Jaguars' defense has only allowed 9.1  points per game  this season, so the Royals' offense will have their work cut out for them.
