Softball Recap: Atlantic Christian Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Atlantic Christian barely beat Gloucester County Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Conquerors on Tuesday. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by eight runs or more this season.

Alexis Shropshire made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Shropshire was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Ashlee Alford was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Malena Meyer, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Atlantic Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory was the third in a row for Atlantic Christian, bringing their record up to 8-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Gloucester County Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-17.

As of now, neither Atlantic Christian nor the Conquerors have any future games scheduled.
