Flag Football Recap: Roosevelt Victorious

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Roosevelt walked away with it. They slipped by the Mission Viejo Diablos 13-12 on Saturday. The win was familiar territory for the Mustangs, who have now won four games in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Roosevelt to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emma Goodland, who rushed for 143 yards on only nine carries. Those 143 rushing yards gave Goodland a new career-high. Lotolelei Sivas was another key pass catcher, picking up 103 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Roosevelt's defense and their four sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Milo Joi Sievers. Another thorn in Mission Viejo's side was April Chavez, who made ten total tackles and defended three passes.

Although Mission Viejo took the loss, they still got scores from Elena Doyle and Hayden Lambert.

Roosevelt's victory bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Mission Viejo, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-15.

As of now, neither Roosevelt nor the Diablos have any future games scheduled.
