Softball Recap: Eastern Comes Up Short

Eastern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 9-6 to the Northwestern Tigers. The Comets were not able to make up for their loss to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Ava Roberson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and seven unearned) runs on 12 hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Marly Coan was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Eastern's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Northwestern, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastern will square off against Blackford at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Northwestern, they will take on North Miami at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
