Softball Recap: Reading Red KNights vs. Exeter Township Eagles
Reading extended their losing streak to 12 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-14 in the process. They came up short against the Exeter Township Eagles, falling 17-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-0 on April 3rd.
Reading saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Janaya Lugo, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
As for Exeter Township, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-10. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by nine runs or more this season.
On Exeter Township's side, Jillian Warner and Marion Eagle did most of the damage at the plate: Warner went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs, while Eagle went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Eagle has posted since back in March. Meghan Moyer was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Reading will welcome Wilson at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Exeter Township, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Hempfield at 5:30 p.m. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Black Knights have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
