Baseball Game Preview: Hopkins Academy Golden Hawks vs. Frontier Regional Red Hawks

Hopkins Academy is 2-8 against Frontier Regional since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Golden Hawks will square off against the Red Hawks at 4:00 p.m.

Hopkins Academy is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They came up short against Hampshire Regional, falling 15-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Golden Hawks have suffered since June 7, 2024.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Frontier Regional sidestepped Easthampton/Hampshire for a 7-5 win. The victory continues a trend for the Red Hawks in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won seven in a row.

Kaden James made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. James was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Henry Drinker was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Ben Caron also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Frontier Regional kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Easthampton/Hampshire only managed five hits.

Hopkins Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Frontier Regional, their record now sits at 9-6.

Hopkins Academy couldn't quite get it done against Frontier Regional in their previous matchup back in April as they fell 5-0. Can the Golden Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
