Basketball Game Preview: St. Petersburg Green Devils vs. Lakewood Spartans

The St. Petersburg Green Devils will face off against the Lakewood Spartans at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Petersburg knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 21 contests -- so hopefully Lakewood likes a good challenge.

Last Saturday, St. Petersburg didn't have too much trouble with Winthrop College Prep Academy as they won 60-44. Given the Green Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while the Spartans are ranked 376th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Lakewood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Jesuit, falling 67-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Spartans have suffered since December 9, 2024.

St. Petersburg has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. As for Lakewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.
