Baseball Recap: Southwest Takes a Loss

If Southwest was riding high fresh off their 9-2 takedown of Hialeah Gardens last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Southwest Eagles came up short against the Westminster Christian Warriors on Tuesday, falling 12-2. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Southwest saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Pedro Martinez, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs Martinez has posted since back in April of 2024. Max Rico also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

With the loss, Southwest broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Westminster Christian, their record is now 4-2-1.

Southwest has already played their next game, an 8-2 defeat against Columbus on the 27th. As for Westminster Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 13-1 victory against Keys Gate on the 26th.
