Basketball Game Preview: Desert Christian Eagles vs. Bisbee Pumas

The Desert Christian Eagles will take on the Bisbee Pumas in a holiday battle at at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bisbee took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Desert Christian, who comes in off a win.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Desert Christian took on Tanque Verde last Saturday. Desert Christian snuck past Tanque Verde with a 43-37 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Emmy Welch and Priscilla Genteman were among the main playmakers for Desert Christian as the former posted 11 points and eight steals and the latter earned 12 points and five rebounds. Those 12 points gave Genteman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Reece Welch, who put up four points and five steals.

Desert Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Bisbee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. The contest between them and St. David didn't end well, with Bisbee falling 53-36.

Desert Christian is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season. As for Bisbee, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
