Volleyball Recap: Smith Valley Comes Up Short

Smith Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 2-0 to the Churchill County Greenwave.

Churchill County was led to victory by Destinee Tapia and Layla Walker. Tapia had ten digs and one assist, while Walker had 13 digs, two aces, and one block. The dominant performance also gave Walker a new career-high in assists (23). Kadence Wiessmer also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Smith Valley's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Churchill County, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 8-6 record.

Smith Valley will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Excel Christian at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. As for Churchill County, they will face off against South Tahoe at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
