Basketball Recap: JP Izzo Key Part of Team Effort in Tigers Win

Lawrenceburg posted their closest victory since March 1, 2024 on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Connersville Spartans 52-50. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Lawrenceburg's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JP Izzo, who on his way to 17 points and six rebounds. Izzo continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Kaleb Cole was another key player, to rack up 15 points.

When it comes to explaining why Connersville lost, don't look at Jadan Peterson. Despite the final result, he en route to 23 points and five boards. Those 23 points gave Peterson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hunter Allen, who posted three points along with five assists and four steals.

Lawrenceburg now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Connersville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.

Lawrenceburg will face off against Oldenburg Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Connersville, they will square off against Northeastern at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Northeastern is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.2 points per game this season.
