Baseball Preview: Camden County Wildcats vs. Effingham County Rebels

Camden County has won five straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Effingham County has won five straight on the road also dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Camden County Wildcats will welcome the Effingham County Rebels at 6:00 p.m. The last four games Camden County has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Camden County saw some tournament action on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over First Coast. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by just one run.

Johnathan Brown tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Caden Napier was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. Darrell Hough also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

While Effingham County didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Statesboro 12-2 on Friday. The Rebels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Effingham County also got a great performance from Luke Edwards as he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave Edwards a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Adam Acel, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Caleb Swindle, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one triple.

Effingham County's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Camden County, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
