Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only St. Joseph walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 17-3 margin over the Montville Wolves on Tuesday. The Cadets' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

HT Jones tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.

On the hitting side, Gavin Rovinelli was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jake Failla, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

St. Joseph kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.4.

St. Joseph has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Montville, their loss dropped their record down to 16-5.
