Softball Recap: Bangor Wins High-Profile Matchup Against Hampden

Bangor faced Hampden in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Rams sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Broncos. Three seems to be a good number for the Rams as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Emma Tripp spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gabby Goding, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run. Abby Folsom was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Bangor and bumps their season record up to 9-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Hampden, they dropped their record down to 7-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
