Basketball Game Preview: Central Red Devils vs. Smiths Station Panthers

Central is 10-0 against Smiths Station since January of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Central Red Devils will square off against the Smiths Station Panthers at 5:30 p.m. Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.4 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Central got the win against Opelika by a conclusive 60-35. Given the Red Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 264th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jabria Lindsey was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 33 points and 11 boards. Her evening made it 29 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kandria Mebuge, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 12 points and five rebounds.

Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Smiths Station duked it out withAuburn on Tuesday. Smiths Station was dealt a 62-32 loss at the hands of Auburn.

Central is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. As for Smiths Station, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.

Central was able to grind out a solid win over Smiths Station in their previous matchup on January 9th, winning 57-50. Will Central repeat their success, or does Smiths Station have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
