Baseball Game Preview: Roxbury Gaels vs. Randolph Rams

For the second straight game, Roxbury will face off against Randolph. The Gaels will challenge the Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Roxbury is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Roxbury will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Randolph on Monday. The Gaels put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 11-1 win. The Gaels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six runs or more this season.

Colin Donnely tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Frankie Falco was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-3. He also scored two runs, which is notable because Roxbury is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Nick Olives, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Roxbury hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Roxbury now has a winning record of 5-4-1. As for Randolph, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

Randolph's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Roxbury has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .461.
