Baseball Recap: New Haven Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

New Haven was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Center Line on Tuesday. The Rockets put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 10-2 win. Considering the Rockets have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Will Bosco and Kaden Gilbert did most of the damage at the plate: Bosco went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run, while Gilbert went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. New Haven is undefeated when Gilbert posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Lamar Pearson was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

New Haven has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Center Line, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-10.

Looking ahead, New Haven will host Clintondale at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Dragons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.7 runs per game on average), something the Rockets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Center Line, they will head out on the road to face off against Sterling Heights at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers are facing the Stallions at the right time seeing as the Stallions are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
