Baseball Recap: Akron Victorious

It's playoff time, and Akron had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Peetz Bulldogs on Wednesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-1 on April 1st.

Caleb Poss was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Mason Porteus looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Anderson Filla was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Akron's record now sits at 15-4. As for Peetz, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Akron will square off against Merino at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Akron will need to watch out since Merino has now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. Peetz does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
