Abigail Yelken nearly netted a triple double while guiding Franklin to a 49-31 win over Hi-Line.
Patrick Ropers' Hi-Line girls basketball program took Abigail Yelken's best shot of the season a week ago, and lost. Averaging 16.3 points, 9.1 rebounds, 0.1 assists, 1 steal and 3.7 blocked shots during a 7-0 start to the Flyer season, Yelken nearly produced the Cornhusker State's only girls triple double of the year in Franklin's 49-31 win over Hi-Line last Thursday.
The 27 point, 14 rebound, one steal and nine blocked shot performance in the 18-point win allowed Yelken to claim the top individual girls basketball performance in the Cornhusker State to date.
Mikah O'Neill of Sumner-Eddyville-Miller took the No. 2 spot with a 23 point, 21 rebound, two assist and four steal Double-20 performance in a 60-19 triumph over Heartland Lutheran while Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family's Addison Schneider posted 22 points, 24 rebounds, one assist and one steal to earn the No. 3 rung during a 63-52 victory over Plainview.
Peyton Cox of Wauneta-Palisade was credited with a 21 point, 20 rebound, one assist, one steal and three blocked shot performance in a 66-60 win over Wallace to claim the No. 4 spot while Lincoln Northeast's Doneelah Washington rounded out the Top 5 with 21 points and 25 rebounds in a 66-32 triumph over South Sioux City December 2.
Classes A, B, C2, D1 and D2 are all represented in this week's Top 10. But plenty of Class C1 athletes are off to fast starts as well. Minden's Sloane Beck led Class C1 with her 16 point, eight rebound and 11 steal performance in a 46-35 win over Elm Creek while Alyssa Fortik of Malcolm put forth a 15 point, one rebound, 10 assist and nine steal effort in a 63-22 win over Plattsmouth.
In order to be considered for this week's Top 10, an athlete had to produce a double-double and compete at a high level in another category. The statistics used for this week's Top 10 were pulled from MaxPreps' statistics database Wednesday evening.
