League recap: Schlagle climbs in standings with win

Schlagle was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in Kansas City-Atchison. Earlier in the week, the Stallions defeated the Stallions 43-0.

Sumner Academy made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,789 from 13,802. The improvement was the result of 26-12 victory over Bishop Ward last week.

The Sabres' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Brandon Williams threw for 205 and two touchdowns and Jowell Daniels had 96 yards receiving. On the ground Brian Cobbins chipped in 77 yards. Leondre Edwards helped Sumner Academy's passing attack out by catching three balls for 48 yards.

Sumner Academy's Williams and Deon Tripp have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Williams has thrown for 1154 yards this season, while Tripp, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 23 catches for 497 yards. Schlagle's J'veyon Browning leads the league in rushing yards with 790.
