Baseball Recap: Desert Mirage Comes Up Short

After flying high against Public Safety Academy last Tuesday, Desert Mirage came back down to earth. The RAMS fell 8-4 to the Borrego Springs Rams on Thursday. The RAMS were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rams earlier this season, when they won 4-1.

Angel Cruz was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Desert Mirage is 6-3 when Cruz posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-8 otherwise. Edilverto Biarco was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Desert Mirage has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Borrego Springs, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.

Desert Mirage didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 loss against Banning on the 28th. As for Borrego Springs, they have also already played their next game, a 7-0 victory against Calipatria on the 30th.
