Baseball Recap: Grosse Ile Takes a Loss

Grosse Ile extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 2-6 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Riverview Pirates. The Red Devils were not able to make up for their defeat to the Pirates from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Rocco Pascuzzi put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Pascuzzi was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

Pascuzzi wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kolton Bodner, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Riverview's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since May 25, 2024.

On Riverview's side, Jameson Gelineau spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up seven Ks. Gelineau has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Evan Minnick was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

Looking ahead, Grosse Ile will face off against Lincoln Park at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Riverview, they will take on Franklin at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
