Matthews has become a key player for Pollok Central: the team is 16-7 when he posts at least five steals, but 2-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Micah Putnam, who posted seven points and three steals.

Pineywoods Community Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 16-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Pollok Central, they pushed their record up to 18-10 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
