Sault Area extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping their season record down to 1-9 in the process. They fell 11-7 to the Marquette Sentinels. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Sentinels this season, with their most recent loss being a 20-5 defeat back in April.

As for Marquette, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-7 record. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

For Marquette's part, Charlye Swajanen spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and six unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Eva Dewitt, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Cece Fuller, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Coming up, Sault Area will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Westwood. As for Marquette, they will take on Plymouth Christian Academy at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
