Basketball Game Preview: Malad Dragons vs. West Side Pirates

Malad hasn't had much luck against West Side recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Malad Dragons will head out on the road to take on the West Side Pirates at 7:30 p.m.

Last Friday, Malad had to suffer through a 60-27 loss at the hands of Soda Springs. The game marked the Dragons' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, West Side earned a 66-53 victory over Aberdeen on Friday. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Tigers are ranked 118th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Side has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points over those games. As for Malad, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-14.

Malad suffered a grim 75-54 defeat to West Side in their previous meeting on Wednesday. Can Malad avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
