Baseball Recap: Lakeside Comes Up Short

Lakeside extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 5-14 in the process. They lost 12-3 to the Pymatuning Valley Lakers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lakers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 back in April.

Anthony Wooten was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

As for Pymatuning Valley, they moved to 16-6 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. Considering they have won ten matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Pymatuning Valley's side, the team relied heavily on Ryan Croston, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. The Lakers are undefeated when Croston posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Sean Croston was another key player, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeside will take on Chardon in a tournament on Wednesday. The Dragons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hilltoppers have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Pymatuning Valley, they will square off against Berkshire at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
