Soccer Game Preview: Sheffield vs. Madison

The Sheffield Knights will venture away from home to take on the Madison Mustangs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Sheffield heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Thursday. They lost 6-2 to Lakeland Preparatory. Sheffield's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Madison entered their tilt with Milan on Thursday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 6-1 victory. Considering Madison have won 11 contests by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Their offense was hitting Milan from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Alijah Madwah led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Madison pushed their record up to 15-1-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 40 goals over those eight games. As for Sheffield, their loss dropped their record down to 13-4.

Sheffield beat Madison 2-0 when the teams last played back in May of 2015. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
