Softball Recap: Frontier Comes Up Short

Frontier extended their losing streak to seven on Wednesday, dropping them down to 3-9. They came up short against the Tri-County Cavaliers, falling 10-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Falcons were not able to get on the board.

Frontier saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addi Govert, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

As for Tri-County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.7 runs.

On Tri-County's side, Grace Luck and Reese Johnson made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Luck tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Johnson didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Luck has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Luck went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs, while Johnson went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was Johnson's first of the season.

In other batting news, Anna Kilmer and Kaydence Schultz did most of the damage at the plate: Kilmer went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Schultz went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs Schultz has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Kailyn Nevitt, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

Coming up, Frontier will be playing at home against Lafayette Central Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Tri-County, they will venture away from home to take on DeMotte Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
