League recap: Middletown extends winning streak with victory over Moses Brown

Middletown extended the longest winning streak in Division III this week by beating Moses Brown, 35-13. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Islanders.

Ponaganset took down Classical 27-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

The Purples' dynamic duo of Griffin Clark and Timothy Shea proved tough for the Chieftains to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Clark threw for 232 yards and Shea had 144 yards receiving. Allen Tat helped Classical's passing attack out by catching five balls for 37 yards.

Nate Farrington was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 46 yards on eight carries as the Quakers fell to Ponaganset. Teammate Eric Cosmopulos added to the ground attack by rushing for 25 yards.

Kris Mccall's team's Clark and Shea have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-4 quarterback Clark has thrown for 973 yards this season, while Shea has 27 catches for 510 yards. East Greenwich's Carney Crawford leads the league in rushing yards with 950.

The Avengers' Crawford needs only 50 yards against the Purples next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.

A big matchup in Division III this week will be when Middletown takes on Narragansett. As it stands, Andrew Leys' team is in first, while the Mariners are in fourth.

Brian Gendreau's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,706 from 11,227. The advance stemmed from a 27-0 victory over Classical last week.
