Baseball Recap: Shorewood Takes a Loss

Shorewood suffered their closest defeat since April 17, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Ballard Beavers by a score of 5-3. The Stormrays were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Beavers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Shorewood got a good showing from Reid Oliveto, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Oliveto a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, Lorenzo Jaramillo was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Joey Facilla was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Shorewood and nudges their season record down to 3-2. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Ballard, the win keeps they at an undefeated 5-0.

Coming up, Shorewood will face off against Lake Stevens at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ballard, they will take on Seattle Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
