Volleyball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Archbishop Chapelle's Winning Streak

If Archbishop Chapelle was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of John Ehret on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Chipmunks fell just short of the Academy of the Sacred Heart Cardinals by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Chipmunks' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Archbishop Chapelle couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Academy of the Sacred Heart a tough time in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 23-25, 31-29, 25-27, 15-9.

Victoria McCann paced Archbishop Chapelle's offense, picking up 19 kills. McCann got some help from Blythe Bonnaffons and her 44 assists. Aubrey Frey controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Archbishop Chapelle's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Academy of the Sacred Heart, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Archbishop Chapelle will challenge Riverdale at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Academy of the Sacred Heart, they will take on Haynes Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
