Softball Recap: Chaffey Wins Going Away Against Montclair

Chaffey's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Everything went their way against the Montclair Cavaliers as Chaffey made off with a 14-0 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their two-run performance the game before.

Elena Valdez made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Sophia Valdez was a standout: she scored two runs while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Gabriela Lomeli was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Chaffey is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-1-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. Montclair dropped their record down to 1-8 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Chaffey will have a chance to go back-to-back against Montclair: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
