Basketball Game Preview: Adams City Eagles vs. Gateway Olympians

The Adams City Eagles will face off against the Gateway Olympians at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Adams City is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Last Friday, Adams City was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 40-35 to Northglenn.

Loss or not, Adams City got some senior leadership from Faduma Shongolo and Evelyn Reyes. Shongolo posted nine points and six rebounds, while Reyes earned two points in addition to 16 boards and five blocks. Reyes has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 12 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Berenice Torrecillas, who put up six points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Gateway played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 65-29 loss at the hands of Skyview. The Olympians haven't had much luck with the Wolverines recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Gateway's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Adams City, their loss dropped their record down to 4-16.
