Volleyball Recap: Bridgeport Central Comes Up Short

Bridgeport Central dropped their record down to 7-5 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They lost 3-0 to the Stamford Black Knights. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hilltoppers of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Malik Denton paced Bridgeport Central's offense, picking up six kills. Denton got some help from Tin Nguyen and his 13 assists. Finally, Oneil Clarke and Jerson Bustillo kept the team grounded on defense, each having blocked two attacks.

As for Stamford, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. The victory was nothing new for Stamford as they're now sitting on four straight.

Stamford can attribute much of their success to MD Arfat Chowdhury, who had 14 digs and one assist. Chowdhury is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 11 or more in each of the last four games he's played.

Bridgeport Central has already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Darien on the 6th. As for Stamford, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Norwalk on the 6th.
