Softball Game Preview: Marysville-Pilchuck Tomahawks vs. Marysville Getchell

The Marysville-Pilchuck Tomahawks are taking a road trip to square off against Marysville Getchell at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Marysville-Pilchuck will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Non Varsity Opponent on Wednesday. The Tomahawks' pitchers stepped up to hand Non Varsity Opponent a 12-0 shutout. The Tomahawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by eight runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Marysville Getchell hadn't done well against Glacier Peak recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Marysville Getchell narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Glacier Peak 5-4.

Aaliyah Shafer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Marysville Getchell saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hannah Worth, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Marysville Getchell's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-10. As for Marysville-Pilchuck, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Marysville-Pilchuck might still be hurting after the 13-2 defeat they got from Marysville Getchell in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Tomahawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
