Flag Football Game Preview: Northglenn Norsemen vs. Columbine Rebels

The Northglenn Norsemen will take on the Columbine Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither Northglenn nor Columbine posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

Northglenn is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Horizon, who was ranked 24th at the time (Northglenn was ranked 19th). The Norsemen's defense stepped up to hand the Hawks a 7-0 shutout on Tuesday. Give the Norsemen's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Northglenn's defense and their three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Madeline Olmos. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one sack the last nine times she's played. Evelynn Jaimes got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Columbine came up short against Ralston Valley on Wednesday and fell 18-6. That's two games in a row now that the Rebels have lost by exactly 12 points.

Northglenn is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.7 points on average over those games. As for Columbine, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
