Volleyball Recap: Ferguson Comes Up Short

It was a Battle of the Birds when Ferguson duked it out with Southwest on Saturday. The Falcons fell 2-0 to the Eagles. If the Falcons were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Eagles when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Elynn Guzman paced Ferguson's offense, picking up six kills. Guzman got some help from Samantha Olivia and her eight assists. Rachelle Rodriguez and Denisse Gonzalez kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southwest to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isabela Perez, who had five digs and four aces. That's the most aces Perez has posted since September 2nd. Victoria Soto was another key player, getting eight kills and seven digs.

Ferguson has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for Southwest, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Ferguson beat the Eagles by a score of 3-0 on Tuesday.
