Baseball Game Preview: Liberty Lions vs. Acalanes Dons

Liberty is on a five-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Acalanes is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. Liberty will host Acalanes at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Liberty managed to slip by Tracy the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Liberty lost 7-1 to Tracy on Saturday.

Liberty saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trace Hoover, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Hoover brought in this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Acalanes). They came out on top against Miramonte by a score of 9-4 on Tuesday.

Austin McMannamon looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Acalanes let Keegan Goddard and Drew Asadorian run wild. Goddard went 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI, while Asadorian scored two runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave Asadorian a new career-high. David Gonzales was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Acalanes hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive matches.

Acalanes' win bumped their record up to 6-1-1. As for Liberty, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
