Softball Recap: Franklin-Simpson Beats Bowling Green for Their Third Straight Victory

Franklin-Simpson had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Bowling Green Purples. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 back in March.

Allie Utley made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with six stolen bases and four runs. Those six stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Holland, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Kloie Smith, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Franklin-Simpson's record is now 15-21. As for Bowling Green, their loss dropped their record down to 18-15-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin-Simpson will welcome Owensboro Catholic at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Bowling Green, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Adair County at 7:30 p.m.
