Softball Recap: Cross County's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Cross County dropped their record down to 10-11 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Westside Warriors, falling 17-0. Having soared to a lofty 21 runs in the game before, the Thunderbirds' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Westside, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 14-6 record. Considering they have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Westside's part, Mckyna Craig made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Craig has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kimber Wynn, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Bella Black was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Coming up, Cross County will challenge Tuckerman at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Thunderbirds surely won't give up without a fight. As for Westside, they will take on Blytheville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chickasaws have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 21.09 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
