Softball Recap: Stoneman Douglas Has No Trouble Against Taravella

Stoneman Douglas won the last time they faced Taravella and things went their way on Monday too. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 19-2 margin over the Trojans. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Kaitlin Enright made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in February.

In other batting news, Stoneman Douglas let Sophia McComas and Myah Boleen run wild. McComas scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Boleen scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Those two hits gave McComas a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caleigh D'Agati, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Stoneman Douglas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory got Stoneman Douglas back to even at 8-8. As for Taravella, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stoneman Douglas will host South Plantation at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Paladins have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Taravella, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pompano Beach at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
