Mitchell and Fivay are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Mitchell Mustangs will be playing at home against the Fivay Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Mitchell is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest loss since December 10, 2024 on Wednesday. They came up short against Countryside, falling 67-44.
Meanwhile, Fivay entered their tilt with Gulf on Thursday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Everything went their way against the Buccaneers as they made off with a 70-45 win. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 25 points or more this season.
Fivay found their leader in sophomore Dominick Walsh, who went 10 for 15 on his way to 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Walsh has scored all season. Sean Brown was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to six assists and three steals.
Fivay is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.4 points per game. As for Mitchell, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.
Mitchell was able to grind out a solid victory over Fivay in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 82-75. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Fivay's Odell Brown, who made all 9 shots he took for 18 points and seven boards.
