 It was a good run, but  California unfortunately witnessed the end of their  three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Monte Vista Mustangs by a score of  3-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to California of the  5-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in April of 2023.
 California got a good showing from  Chase McGill, who   pitched three innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit (he also only allowed one  walk). McGill has been consistent recently: he hasn't  given up  more than two  hits in four consecutive pitching appearances.
