Basketball Recap: Corvian Community Comes Up Short

Corvian Community played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 71-31 loss at the hands of the Lincoln Charter Eagles. The loss continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.

Corvian Community lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Victoria Sandiford, who posted nine points. Another player making a difference was Catie Wheatley, who had six points.

Lincoln Charter was led to victory by Symphani Stevens and Martha Guinle. Stevens went 7 of 12 on her way to 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals, while Guinle went 6 for 12 on her way to 17 points and six steals. Stevens is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Riggenbach, who put up 15 points.

Corvian Community's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Lincoln Charter, their record is now 2-5.

Corvian Community didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-43 win against Langtree Charter Academy on the 17th. As for Lincoln Charter, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 51-44 victory against Community School of Davidson on the 17th.
