Softball Game Preview: Lexington Eagles vs. Thrall Tigers

The Lexington Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Thrall Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lexington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Lexington fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Franklin on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 4-3.

Lexington saw nine different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jillian Herridge, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Thrall's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of C.H. Yoe by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Tigers have suffered since February 28th.

Selena Quintanilla was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. Briana Jarosek also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Thrall's record is now 13-10. As for Lexington, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-6.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Lexington hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Thrall struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

Lexington took their victory against Thrall in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 10-4 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
