Basketball Recap: Ferndale Wildcats vs. Hoopa Valley Warriors

Ferndale was the 67-58 winner over Hoopa Valley when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Ferndale Wildcats fell 68-55 to the Hoopa Valley Warriors on Friday. The Wildcats were down 53-32 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Leading Hoopa Valley to victory were Brandon Romero and Malakai McCoy. Romero dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds, while McCoy went 8 for 10 en route to 20 points. Romero continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Lyle Mckinnon was another key player, putting up 11 points and five boards.

Ferndale has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.2 points over those games. As for Hoopa Valley, their record now sits at 14-9.
