Softball Recap: Franklin-Simpson Wildcats vs. Edmonson County Wildcats
Franklin-Simpson fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Edmonson County on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of Edmonson County by a score of 13-12. Franklin-Simpson was not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Edmonson County earlier this season, when they won 4-1.
Allie Utley led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Ferguson, who went 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI.
Franklin-Simpson's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-15. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only five runs. As for Edmonson County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-12.
