Football Game Preview: Findlay Trojans vs. Perrysburg Yellow Jackets

The Findlay Trojans will head out to square off against the Perrysburg Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Findlay sitting on five straight wins and Perrysburg on four.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Findlay and Clay, and Findlay kept the tradition alive. The Trojans took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 35-0 victory over the Eagles. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Trojans had established a 21-point advantage.

Meanwhile, Perrysburg won against Southview last Friday with 48 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Yellow Jackets beat Northview by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 48-6. Considering the Yellow Jackets have won five contests by more than 30 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Perrysburg's win came from a few key players Findlay will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brady Maxwell, who threw for 190 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 11 passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. Luke Kopchian was another key player, rushing for 127 yards and one TD.

Perrysburg was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 226 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 150 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.

Perrysburg didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Blake Kertsen, Landen Wallace, and Darnell Gray II picked up one apiece. Kertsen has been hot recently, having also posted at least one defended passe the last four times he's played.

Findlay's record now sits at 5-1. As for Perrysburg, their record is now an identical 5-1.

Findlay suffered a grim 37-14 defeat to Perrysburg in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Trojans were down 29-7.
