Basketball Recap: Seymour Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Seymour won the last time they faced Carter and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Seymour Eagles managed a 51-45 victory over the Carter Green Hornets. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Green Hornets are ranked 246th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Green Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Olivia Craig, who posted four points along with 11 boards and three blocks. Those 11 rebounds gave Craig a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleigh Wilson, who put up eight points.

The win made it two in a row for Seymour and bumps their season record up to 14-7. As for Carter, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-16.

Seymour will venture away from home to challenge Northview Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Northview Academy will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Seymour surely won't give up without a fight. As for Carter, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-42 loss against Lenoir City on the 30th.
